Earthquake Kit – A checklist for Family Safety
Earthquake Survival Kit or kit should be part of your family emergency and evacuation plan. The recent earthquake in California, Sumatra, and Haiti have the public awareness of the fact that we are prepared for disasters. Governments are often unable to respond quickly to immediate needs of the people. Many people believe that they are not at risk of these events, however, no matter where you live is not only necessarythreat than earthquakes, but hurricanes, fire, brush, tornadoes, floods, fires, house, or even a loss of electricity or the availability of water.
Consider the following items in a list of earthquakes or essential to your survival kit:
– A complete kit for your family earthquake last 3 days. A kit for a larger family. To hold depends on the size and cost of these kits typically include a full size sleeping bag, cubic, or pills to purify water,first aid kit, personal hygiene items, multipurpose knife, high calorie food bars, blankets, flashlight and portable radio with batteries.
- Water: You should have a least 1 gallon per person per day. Store your water out of sunlight and make sure you have easy access to it.
- Medications: Have prescriptions for the family in one place if possible including a list of the of the prescriptions and dosage.
- Cell phone with charging cord for both outlets and automobile. Have phone Numbers for family, friends and emergency contacts for police, fire, medical and hospitals.
– Important documents: driver's license, passport, birth certificate, trust documents.
– Keys for house, car, business, safe, bicycle storage.
– Animals: water, food, medicines, collar and leash, blanket, and during the day.
– Pen drive from your computer – Back up your system regularly.
– Cash and credit cards.
– Restaurant / sneakers
– Do you have a plan forEmergency children in school, parents at work or the shops are. The plan should meet where, if possible. The whole family should be aware of where your earthquake kit, and other items which are required at all times.
